For Parents
Parents and guardians benefit from a series of "chats" and presentations that provide parents with helpful tools and information.

Curriculum Chats
Several times a year Beacon's Founder Thelma Farley, a nationally known development expert, speaks to the parent community on important topics regarding the educational and social development of our children. The Beacon Day School Family Association hosts these popular chats. Subjects such as Learning Social and Emotional Skills at Home (for parents of 3 to 8 year olds) and Achievement - Is Too Much or Too Little Being Done to Maximize Your Child's Potential? have been addressed in previous sessions. Family members and friends are encouraged to attend and free childcare is provided for Beacon students. The Beacon Day School Family Association sponsors additional presentations for parents on topics of interest such as Internet safety.

"Beacon has developed a community of families in which the parents care a great deal about the education of their children and about the future of our society; and in which children develop a love of learning, positive self-esteem and an appreciation for the values of diversity in our society."

Coffee with Thelma
Throughout the year Founder Thelma Farley hosts "Coffee with Thelma," early morning gatherings that provide parents and guardians an opportunity to communicate in an open, informal environment about issues regarding the school, our children and the world around us.

Publications
Beacon's monthly newsletter, The FLASH, is published once a month by the Beacon Day School Family Association and is distributed the first week of the month via mail pockets and mail slots. The FLASH is filled with information about school events, class news, articles, and important information for all Beacon community members. Any member of the Beacon community can submit materials for publication. The deadline for submissions is the 18th of the prior month.
